Patrick Rosso, DTN FFTDA: "We have made our mark
"After three days of a Grand Prix that is of course not yet finished since para-taekwondo takes place tomorrow, the balance is positive with three medals for France. It's been a long time since we had that, and it shows once again the importance of playing at home. On the other hand, we are also frustrated because our level of requirement and our potential made us think that we could do even better. Althea could have won gold, Souleyman could have passed the world champion, others were able to advance further in their table.
In any case, we made a mark in terms of organization this weekend. In the approach of the competition at home, there is still progress to be made, but it still brings benefit to our federation. We still have a try next year to be better. The balance? We are on something really positive and we are consolidating our performance potential. It must be emphasized that our three medalists are novices at this level of competition, and that pleads for an even greater future. They were able to exploit this opportunity to succeed, so why not go for the gold medal in Paris in two years at the Games, where some of our representatives will discover this event? We are moving slowly, we are positioning ourselves, but we also know that this potential can lead us to more medals. We will have to come back to this event in detail but these are steps that will help us move forward. Before looking ahead to the next quarter, which promises to be very busy for our fighters, let's take the time to assess the situation with the athletes and draw the right conclusions from this weekend.
