Althéa Laurin (+68kg): "Multiply this kind of fights

For the first Grand Prix of her career, it is the glass of water half full for our Olympic medalist.

"Obviously, I wanted to do well, with the added pressure of fighting at home. I arrived with a lot of desire, maybe even a little too much, because I had been waiting for several seasons to be able to participate in my first Grand Prix. This explains why I was more demonstrative than usual, I let myself go. I know what to expect now. As usual, I was there to perform, with victory as my only objective, but I could measure the difficulty of facing such adversity. It is by multiplying this kind of fights that I will be able to evolve. However, I didn't say to myself that I lacked experience when I got on the mat, and I simply tried to apply what I have to do. I couldn't do that in the final, where the instruction was to control the match. It's not a style I'm used to in competition, so it surprised me today, but I think it will be better next time. Generally speaking, there are lessons to be learned from each round, to continue, again and again, to evolve. A necessity even stronger since my Olympic medal, which made me more observed than before. But you have to look at the positive side of it: I have to keep progressing, to know how to change my style so that I am not always in the same register.
