Cyrian Ravet, the taste of gold

He did it! Magnificent in his precision and serenity, even when tired, Cyrian Ravet signed a major performance today in Levallois-Perret by winning the Grand Prix de France.
September 2, 2022

Cyrian Ravet started his day on a high note, beating the Israeli Dmitriy Nagaev and then the rough Turkish Gorkem Polat this morning for his first two rounds. The following rounds showed that this fighter is world class and that at the age of nineteen, he is aiming for Paris 2024 with a legitimacy that he continues to polish with each round.

Opposed to the number 1 player in the world, the Korean Jang Jun, it was indeed Cyrian who came out as the boss. A first round won 7-4, before an incredible second round in its final which saw the Frenchman, led, come back with new sequences of attack, these precise and powerful sequences of which he has the secret, to win 6-2. Heading for the semi-finals, with already a reference fight.

But the best was to come. First with this three round victory over the great twenty-three year old Spaniard Adrian Vincente Yunta. The number 4 in the world tried to put the fight out from the start and was even at 10-2, but Ravet's lightning and his kicks to the head caught up with him to hang on to a 10-10 that gave the round to the young Frenchman. If the second round was tighter and went to the Spaniard, it is clear that Cyrian Ravet would not let anyone dictate the pace of the fight, let alone take the victory in the decisive seconds today. 1-0, then 2-0, and the tactical intelligence allowed him, without ever getting carried away, to open the doors to the final. Would he join M'Bar Ndiaye, the last French Grand Prix winner in 2014 in Kazakhstan? For that, it was still necessary to pass the Tunisian mountainMohamed Khalil Jendoubi, nothing less than the Olympic vice champion and number 3 in the world. A very tall man (1,82m) and a formidable leg length (114 cm) to which it was not necessary to expose oneself. A first round still impeccably managed (2-1), with an impregnable Cyrian Ravet, unplayable in his zone, then it was the Tunisian who stung first, but saw Cyrian passing in front (3-2) with the benefit of avideo replay at the end of the first round, a "money time" in which the Frenchman proved irresistible today. Sanctioned for hanging on (3-3), it was in the wake of his opponent who was. 4-3, a second round, for a first Grand Prix title. The perfect day.

Out of the three categories entered today, it is China which is leading the medal ranking (1 gold, 1 bronze), thanks in particular to the victory of Zongshi Luo in -57kg, while the Thai Panipak Wongpattanakit wins in -49kg.
