Althéa Laurin, Solène Avoulète and Marie-Paule Blé in the women's category, Omar El Yazidi and N'Diaye M'Bar in the men's category: the five French competitors had varying fortunes this morning.

If Marie-Paule Blé started her morning well with a first round win against the Brazilian Gabriele Siqueira, several times medalist at the Pan-American championships, she lost the second 0-1 and let her opponent take the initiative in the third, who scored two points in the last seconds to win. A disappointment for the 2019 world medalist who had other ambitions at home.

Not much more success for Solène Avoulette in the same category of +67kg, she also started well with a victory, certainly narrow (1-0) in the first round, but then suffered the physical impact of the Iranian, Asian champion, Akram Khodabandeh.

Two falls in this morning and the eyes turned to Althéa Laurin. For her first round, the Olympic medallist had to face the 2022 world junior champion, the Turkish Sude Yaren Uzuncavdar. Althéa managed to win the first round 7-3 before tightening up the fight in the second round for a 4-0 score.

In the men's category, if N'Diaye M'Bar could not do much in his first round against the Croatian Ivan Sapina, 2019 world medalist and number 4 in the world, with a quick defeat (1-8, 0-13), Omar El Yazidi won his fight against the Korean number 2 Seongi Lee : a solid first round (4-4), a second where he was beaten (2-6), before the decisive round where, despite the fatigue of a tough fight to be unspectacular, he did not let go until the last second ... He was rewarded with a 2-2 that sent him to the round of 16. He was rewarded with a 2-2 win that sent him to the round of 16, where he will face the Ivorian Cheick Sallah Cissé, the Rio Olympic champion and current world number 5.
