Mehdi Jermami (-80kg)
"We had a well established strategy: Toni Kanaet is a very tall fighter, and we knew that we should not stay static during the fight but play with the variations of distance to be able to surprise him. I applied it well during the first round and everything was going well until five seconds from the end, when I entered the exchange and scored, but he also scored, which allowed him to win. In the second round, I lost by the number of penalties... My relatives had specially come from Montpellier to watch the fight, so I wanted to say hello to them, as well as to the members of the French team who encouraged me. This weekend, as far as organization is concerned, it is superb! Simply one of the most beautiful venues I have seen in my sporting career. On top of that, the organization is top notch and it really bodes well for Paris 2024. Until then, I will focus on the end of the season, with a few international events during which I will try to gain points and continue to climb in the world ranking and in the Olympic ranking, before the World Championships in Mexico.
