Theo Lucien and Magda Wiet-Hénin give an appointment

As the late morning break looms at the Palais des Sports in Levallois, the French are not letting up.

First of all, Théo Lucien faced the Jordanian Zaid Alhalawani, former cadet world champion and medallist at the 2022 Asian championships, currently 9th in the world ranking. No mistake for the Frenchman, European medalist this year, who applied his fighting scheme: offensive, solid, but without taking unnecessary risks. A rigor and desire that allowed him to win the first round and then the second one on the same basis (5-2), even after being down 0-2.

A blue victory followed by another one in -67kg: that of Magda Wiet-Hénin, opposed to... Estelle Vander-Zwalm. That's how the draw decided yesterday. Back from a difficult preparation punctuated by several physical problems, the latter, 54th in the ranking this morning, approached this fratricidal duel without any complex and even went ahead in the score (4-3) in the first round before being taken over by the 2019 world medalist who started to settle the distance and to release her blows. A victory (7-7) before a second round with only one way for Magda Wiet-Hénin who changed gear to finish on an 11-0. It's never easy to face another Frenchwoman, Magda, who was very much expected, assumed her status and showed that she would have to be reckoned with. We can't wait to see what happens next.
